Howell Public Schools 1:1 Chromebook Program

Howell Public Schools began the 1:1 Chromebook program during the 2018/2019 school year. Each student in grades 6-12 received a Chromebook to be used both at school and home for the entire school year. At the completion of the school year students turned in their Chromebook to be cleaned, updated, repaired and stored in preparation for the next school year. Each participating student will receive their same Chromebook back in return. Students new to the district and incoming 6th graders will be able to participate in the program as well.

Before receiving a Chromebook, the following must have occurred:

Chromebook Insurance
Howell Schools requires that parents purchase annual insurance to cover accidental damage and theft of student devices (both issued and any loaner device, should they be needed). This policy does not cover the loss of the Chromebook and/or accessories, cosmetic damage, or damages caused by intentional misuse or malicious destruction. Howell Public Schools will assess the Chromebook damage and repair or replace the device if the damage is determined to be accidental and within the protection guidelines. Parents/students may be charged for the full replacement cost of a device that has been lost or damaged due to intentional misuse or abuse.

If you qualify for free/reduced lunch and your household requires assistance with this fee, please select the option in the 1:1 Agreement Form to pay for insurance in cash, and speak to a district employee on device distribution day about how to apply for financial aid.
