January 23, 2025 -
As part of the Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future bond projects, Howell High School is undergoing a major upgrade to its interior doors and hardware. This project replaces many of the building's original doors from the 1980s, which were due for replacement after 40 years of use. The new doors, equipped with modern electronic locks, will significantly enhance building security and accessibility. The project is currently about 65% complete, with work being done after school hours to ensure no disruptions to the learning environment.

The Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future Bond will provide valuable upgrades to the Howell High School 10-12 Building, enhancing safety, infrastructure, and educational facilities. Planned security improvements include added security doors, fire-rated glazing to replace wire glass, and security cameras. The learning environment will benefit from a remodeled drama lab and new classroom furniture, alongside updated instructional technology and equipment. Infrastructure upgrades cover sidewalk and heavy-duty paving replacements, ADA-compliant door replacements, and updates to the performing arts storage, greenhouse, and masonry. Additional improvements include restroom renovations, fieldhouse upgrades with new lockers and bleachers, and essential replacements to air handlers and exhaust units in various areas, ensuring a modern, comfortable environment for students and staff.
