4/25/2025 - Howell High School will host a student TEDEd event on Thursday, May 1, at 6 p.m. in the Rod Bushey Performing Arts Center at Howell High School. During the event, 11 Howell High School students will share “ideas worth spreading” through original TED-style talks. Topics will include advocacy for women in the medical field, the power of vulnerability, and the importance of understanding when agreement is not possible. The event is free and open to the public.
Students presenting their TEDEd talks include Peyton Bunch, Brooke Cruzan, Abigail Highlen, Max Kent, Julianna Mader, Rebecca Mader, Layla Oumedian, Dalis Rutherford, Erich Sleder, Ivy Smith and Penelope Taylor. Kara King will serve as the event host.
A TEDEd event is an extension of the globally recognized TED platform, designed specifically to amplify student voices and promote youth-driven ideas. Through the TEDEd Student Talks program, students work through a guided curriculum that helps them identify, develop and deliver their own TED-style talks on topics they are passionate about. These events offer students an opportunity to share original ideas, build confidence and practice public speaking in a supportive academic setting. TED-Ed events celebrate curiosity, creativity and the power of student perspectives, giving communities a chance to hear directly from the next generation of changemakers.
The Rod Bushey Performing Arts Center is located at 1200 W. Grand River Ave., Howell, MI 48843.
