12/16/2022 - The Howell Public Schools elementary and middle school programs are having an outstanding season, with multiple teams qualifying for their respective state championship events.

Five of the district’s FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams recently competed at the FIRST in Michigan FLL State Championship event. The teams, the Radioactive Robots, the Super Bots, the Cosmic Cruisers, the Wire Cats, and the Brick Bosses, earned the right to compete at the event based on their achievements at qualifying events.

Four of the district’s five FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams have qualified for the FIRST in Michigan FTC State Championship event Thursday, Dec. 15 through Saturday, Dec. 17, at Calvin College in Grand Rapids. The teams qualified based on various accomplishments at qualifying events.

  • Team KAOS earned their trip to the state event for being an Alliance partner on the First Place Alliance Winning Team at Howell Qualifier Event and winning the Design Award.
  • Team KUDOS qualified for winning the Connect Award and for earning second place for the Inspire Award.
  • Team KRASH is heading to the state event after claiming the Inspire Award.
  • Team KARMA stamped their ticket to the state championship by bringing home the Connect Award.

The district’s fifth FTC team, Team Kilts, missed qualifying for the state event but still registered a successful season advancing to the semifinals of the Hartland Qualifier and being an Innovate Award finalist.

The district’s high school First Robotics Competition (FRC) team, the S.C.O.T.S. Bots will begin competing this March.
