FCCLA Students Earn Honors at State Event

Members of the HHS FCCLA Club4/13/2023 - Recently, students in Howell High School's Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) club attended the Michigan FCCLA State Leadership Conference. While at the conference, four students took part in the Students Taking Action for Recognition (STAR) competitive events, with each student earning a silver medal in the category. The students also advanced to the National FCCLA STAR event, which will be held this summer in Colorado. Advancing to the national competition are Elaina Pennell in the Interior Design category, Atlas Mitchell in the Chapter Service Project category, Lorelei Miller in the Focus on Children category, and Aubrey Stevens in Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation category.

The Howell FCCLA club earned several awards and recognitions at the conference, including the Gimme 5! Award for increased membership, Community Service Activity: Career Connection Gold Medal, The 5 Star Chapter Award. To students, Andy Brinker and Sorrin Looney were also recognized for their work in the Power of One program, which helps students develop various character strengths. Additionally, Michigan FCCLA members elected Looney to serve on the State Executive Council as the First Vice President.
