Dault submitted his letter of resignation to Board of Education President Christy Conn on Saturday, May 23.

Dault was elected to a six-year term on the Board of Education in 2024. “On behalf of the Board of Education and the Howell community, I would like to thank Mr. Dault for his service and dedication to Howell Public Schools,” said Erin J MacGregor, Ed.D., Howell Public Schools Superintendent. “Mr. Dault’s leadership has helped guide the district over the past two years and we are grateful for his time on the Board.”

The Howell Public Schools Board of Education is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the board seat vacated by Dault’s resignation. Any individual who meets the legal qualifications to serve as a school board member is eligible to apply. The selected individual will serve through the November 3 election, when voters will elect a candidate to serve the remainder of the term. The Board of Education will interview applicants for the vacant position during its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 8 and appoint an individual to fill the vacant position during a Special Board of Education meeting scheduled for Monday, June 15, at 6:00 p.m.

To apply, interested candidates must submit an Interest in Board Vacancy Packet, which is available on https://bit.ly/4wW92lu, no later than 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, to the Board of Education office located at 411 N. Highlander Way, Suite A, Howell. Only hard copies of the Interest in Board Vacancy Packet will be accepted. Failure to meet the deadline will disqualify the candidate from being considered for the position.

All interviews will be held in public in accordance with the Michigan Open Meetings Act. During the interview process, each candidate will give a brief statement. Following the statements, the Board will evaluate the candidates and vote on an appointment.
