Big Progress on the Replacement Northwest!
Even in the snow, the site of the replacement Northwest Elementary is buzzing with action. Crews are lifting steel into place, building walls, laying brick, and staging roof materials for the next big steps. From foundation work to electrical rough-ins and roof trusses, this school is rising fast. Every beam and brick brings us closer to a new, modern, safe, and welcoming learning environment.

Walls Continue to Rise at the Replacement Northwest Elementary
October 15, 2025 - At the site of the replacement Northwest Elementary School, funded by the Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future Bond, masons continue building the school’s walls while crews rough in electrical systems. The walls are beginning to take shape, especially in the two-story section that will house second through fifth grades, bringing the vision for this new learning environment to life.

Groundbreaking Held for Replacement Northwest Elementary
April 22, 2025 - On Tuesday, April 15, Howell Public Schools held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially mark the start of construction on the replacement Northwest Elementary School. This milestone event, made possible through the support of the 2023 Our Kids, Our Community, Our Future bond proposal, brought together students, staff, families, Board of Education members, district leadership, and community members.

Following a comprehensive review and evaluation process, bids for the project have been accepted, and sitework is currently underway as construction moves forward.

Designed with our students' needs at the forefront, the replacement Northwest Elementary will feature flexible learning spaces that empower teachers to personalize instruction and foster student collaboration in innovative ways. Classrooms and common areas will be filled with natural light, creating a bright, welcoming environment that supports both learning and well-being.

Plans are Progressing for Replacement Northwest Elementary
January 28, 2025 - The replacement of Northwest Elementary and Southwest Elementary is progressing steadily, with both projects now in the final planning stages. Bids are currently out for key aspects of the construction. For Southwest Elementary, bids have been issued for earthwork and foundation work, while at Northwest Elementary, Howell Public Schools is receiving firm prime contractor bids for labor, materials, equipment, and other services needed for the project
