Howell Air Force JROTC Drill Team Claims Second Place at Competition

2/24/2023 - On Saturday, Feb. 4, the Howell High School Air Force JROTC (AFJROTC) hosted a home drill meet at Highlander Way Middle School. Howell’s team finished in second place overall after losing on a tiebreaker to the 2022 Air Force JROTC Drill National Champions.
At the event, the team won three events; Varsity Armed, JV Armed, and JV Color Guard. The team placed second in three events, Varsity Unarmed, JV Unarmed, and Varsity Unarmed Exhibition, and the Varsity Armed Exhibition took third place.
Several Cadets also earned Knockout awards; Jadiah Davis took second place in the Armed Category and fourth in the Unarmed Category, Layla Oumedian took second place in the first year Unarmed Category and sixth place in the Armed Category, Hollie Miller won the first year Unarmed Category. Other Knockout winners were Kali Karber, Jillian Dunn, Krista Lennon, Kendall Buck, Addison Wonnacott, Mikayla Walker, and Dylan Lewis.
This season, the Howell AFJROTC drill team has won the Anchor Bay Drill Meet and took fourth place at the Michigan Wide Drill Meet in Detroit. Next month the team will travel to Dayton, OH, to compete in the 2023 Air Force Drill Nationals.
