The 2021-2022 Howell Archery Teams4/28/2022 - The Howell Archery Teams have qualified to compete at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) - 2022 Eastern Nationals Competition in Louisville, Ky., May 12-14. The teams and archers qualified based on their performance during their regular season. Historically, the Eastern Nationals event has hosted16,000 archers from the eastern half of the US. Previous years events have broken participation records in the archery industry as the largest indoor archery competition, and it is on target to have another record-breaking year. This season, six Howell schools, Howell High School, Highlander Way Middle School, Parker Middle School, Challenger Elementary, Southwest Elementary, and Three Fires Elementary, participated in the NASP.

Howell High School fielded three teams this season, two high school teams and a JROTC team. Howell High School Team 1 finished as Reserve Champions at the state tournaments in both Bullseye and 3D. This marked the fifth year that the team has earned the Reserve Champions title in the 3D Tournament. Howell High School Team 2 finished in eighth place in Bullseye and third place in 3D at the state tournaments. Several students also earned medals at the two tournaments. At the national event, high school archers will compete in a combination of 5 events.

Parker Middle School fielded one team this season. The team finished in third place in the state Bullseye tournament and fourth place in the state 3D tournament. The Parker Middle School Team will compete in four events. Highlander Way Middle School also had one team this season. The Highlander Way team finished fifth place in the state bullseye tournament and third place in the state 3D tournament. They will also be competing in four events at the National Tournament.

All three Howell elementary schools teams finished in the top five at the state tournaments.

The Three Fires team finished second in both the state bullseye and 3D tournaments, the Challenger team finished in third place in both tournaments, and the Southwest team finished in fourth place in both events. The elementary teams will compete in three team events at the National Tournament. Students who earned medals at the state tournament will compete as individuals in the national Bullseye and 3D events.

In addition to competing in the NASP events, the Howell High School archery program also participated in a Unified Champion Schools Archery program. The archers practiced for four weeks before hosting the Fowlerville Unified Archery team for a tournament. At the Tournament, nine archery pairs from Howell Unified Archery challenged four archery pairs from Fowlerville Unified Archery.
