Highlander Virtual Logo7/24/20 - With the start of the new school year, Howell Public Schools will launch Highlander Virtual (Highlander V) to provide a robust virtual learning experience. Highlander V will be open to all current Howell families in begindergarten through grade 12 and families from surrounding areas looking for a virtual learning experience for their child.

Highly qualified Howell Public Schools teachers will staff Highlander V, allowing families to remain connected to a local school district. Students in Highlander V will have access to all the learning resources, experiences, and support services of Howell Public Schools. In Highlander V, students will attend daily virtual classes and also work independently at their own pace. A regular schedule, timelines, and weekly parent progress reports will keep students on track.

“We are very excited to launch Highlander V this fall. Creating a learning option through a virtual format has been one of the district’s goals. The current situation emphasized the need for us to offer this option,” said Erin MacGregor, Howell Public Schools superintendent. “Our staff has worked incredibly hard to develop a robust virtual learning experience that will closely mirror the teaching and learning that occurs in classrooms around our district.”

To meet the highest academic standards, Howell staff has developed virtual courses to match the district’s approved curriculum for math, English Language Arts, social studies, and science. Students enrolled in Highlander V can attend select electives in-person at a Howell school, or virtually through a partner school.
