MacGregor's Message 12/17/2021
Dear Families,

At Monday’s Board of Education meeting the Board approved bids for what will be the final round of large updates and improvements funded by the 2019 Capital and Safety Bond. This summer we will be replacing the roofs at Innovation Academy/Little Highlanders Learning Center and the district’s Transportation and Operations Building. We will also be repaving the service drive that runs from Grand River to M-59 on the high school campus, the Highlander Aquatic and Fitness Center and Howell High School loading dock parking lots, and the service drive that runs along the east side of Parker Middle School. Additionally, we will be repairing and refinishing the floor in the Howell High School Field House. The Board also approved the purchase of several buses which were included in the bond. These projects and purchases will exhaust most of the remaining bond dollars with the exception of some dedicated funds for additional buses and technology. To view a recap of all of the projects that we have completed, please visit HowellSchools.com/bond.

Thanks to generous donors and sponsors, the Christmas Elves program was able to provide holiday gifts for 73 of our students and families. On Monday, these items were delivered to the district for distribution. The donations filled an entire box truck and it was truly heartwarming to see. I am so thankful for the Christmas Elves team inviting Howell to be part of this program, to all of the sponsors and donors, and to our counselors who help coordinate with the program.

This week we learned the totals from the district-wide food drive organized by the Howell High School leadership classes. Over the course of the drive, more than 20,000 pounds of food and over $9,000 was donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank. The monetary donation was made at a time when a sponsor was matching all donations to Gleaners, so the funds raised were doubled to more than $18,000. Superintendent MacGregor's 2021 Holiday Card

Each year I select artwork created by one of our students for my annual holiday card. This year’s card features artwork created by Madeline, a first grade student at Challenger Elementary. As we head into our holiday break, I hope you and your family have a wonderful and relaxing break that is full of holiday cheer.

Sincerely,
Erin J. MacGregor, Ed.S.
