2/7/19 - Howell High School will host its second annual TEDxYouth event on Wednesday, Feb. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Howell High School Rod Bushey Performing Arts Center.  The event will feature ten thought-provoking talks and two live musical performances by Howell High School students and a guest speaker. The topics will range from empowering young women in STEM fields to a new way to combat cyberbullying. A TEDx event is a spin-off of the popular TED Talks. According to the TEDx website, “the TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations, and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences.” The event will be hosted by Howell High School students  Allison Mitter and Holly Humphries.

“All of our students have astounding stories to share, and they are so passionate about many topics. This event gives them a platform to share their stories and inspire others,” said Brian McCarthy, TEDx Co-Organizer and Howell High School assistant principal.  “The evening will leave attendees feeling inspired, informed and enlightened on a wide variety of topics.”

Tickets for the event are $5 each and can be purchased online at https://goo.gl/3ttYuTor in the Howell High School Main Office.

About the TEDx Program

The TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations, and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences. At TEDx events, a screening of TED Talks videos — or a combination of live presenters and TED Talks videos — sparks deep conversation and connections at the local level. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED.
