10/31/17 –  A group of Howell High School student leaders are planning a district-wide canned food drive to help those in need. The drive will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 1 and run through Friday, Nov. 24. After collecting more than 13,000 canned goods last year, the students have set a goal of collecting 24,000 canned goods this year. The food drive will support Gleaner’s Community Food Bank.

“It is always good to give back to others in our community. There are a lot of people in need in our county, and this is a way for us to help them during the holiday season,” said Miyah Seckinger, one of the students organizing the food drive.

Donation boxes will be placed in each Howell Public Schools building for students and staff to make donations. Additionally, LOC Federal Credit Union is supporting this effort by placing a donation box in their Howell branch. This will provide a location where community members can drop off canned goods to help the students reach their goal. The Howell LOC Federal Credit Union branch is located at 3020 E. Grand River Ave.
