9/30/16 – Buster the Bus, a friendly talking bus is visiting each Howell elementary school this fall to teach students about bus safety. The remote controlled bus teaches students how to safely cross the street near buses, the importance of staying out of the “danger zone” and provides tips on bus stop safety. Buster visits each school with the district’s bus drivers who put on the safety program. As part of the program, students watch a short video on bus safety and have the opportunity to climb on board a bus to practice an emergency exit drill.
Following the program, each student receives a package of bus related activity sheets. The bus safety program is presented to students in begindergarten through second grade at the start of each school year.
