Scholarships - May/June Deadline

The guidance office has received information about several scholarship opportunities. If you are interested in applying for any of the scholarships, please stop by the guidance office for an application and additional information. Scholarships are received by the Guidance Office throughout the school year.

Construction Trades Scholarship: J. Ralph Drick Scholarship 2008

Criteria: For the 11th straight year, the J. Ralph Drick scholarship Trust seeks applicants for two scholarships to a Livingston County area resident to be trained in the construction trades: carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, etc.
Award: Training in the construction trades
Deadline: Noon on June 13, 2008
For additional information and to obtain an application: Applications shall be obtained during business hours (M-F) at the Law Office of Jay R. Drick, 528 W. Grand River Ave., Howell or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Prior winners can re-apply.

Western Michigan University: Tau Kappa Epsilon 2008 Scholarship

Criteria: This scholarship is for a high school senior who plans to attend Western Michigan University and is considering joining a fraternity.
Award: $750

Douglas J Aveda Institute

Criteria: The Douglas J Aveda Institutes will be holding their annual Natural Talent Scholarship Styling Competition on June 8, 2008 in Royal Oak. This is for a high school senior who is interested in pursuing a career in Cosmetology.
Deadline: May 9, 2008
Award: Full Tuition Scholarship (and other scholarships)

Michigan Undergraduate Scholarship: Delta Upsilon

Criteria: This scholarship is for young men who will be attending the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor Campus) for the 2008-2009 school year. Recipients will be chosen based on their personal and academic qualities. Applicants need not join Delta Upsilon or any other Greek society to be eligible. To apply, fill out an application. Also include a copy of the high school transcript and SAT and/or ACT scores, an activity sheet detailing involvement in and out of the classroom, and a short essay of statement about self and plans for the future. Please limit the essay to 500 words.
Award: Two (2) scholarships of $500 each
Deadline: May 16, 2008

Miss "Sparkle" Success Scholarship 2008

Criteria: Applicants must be females between the ages of 12-20 who possess a self image that other young ladies may model. The award is based on academic achievement, good behavior, and community service involvement. The next pageant competition will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center on the campus of Michigan State University.
Award: $1,000
Deadline: Saturday, May 17, 2008

Lake Superior State University: Leah Marie Bollin Memorial Award

Criteria: Applicants must be admitted to LSSU by April 1 of the current academic year. They must complete a questionnaire and provide LSSU Foundation with three letters of recommendation from teachers, clergy, counselors or leaders of the community. Financial need is a consideration. Candidates must carry a minimum GPA of 2.0. This award is for a person who has epilepsy or a similar seizure disorder.
Award: Four $1,000 scholarships

Jeptha Wade Schureman Scholarship Program

Criteria: This scholarship is for seniors who have lost their fathers because of death or loss of parental rights. Applicants must demonstrate a strong scholastic performance with a 3.0 GPA or higher, demonstrate leadership through extracurricular activities, service in school and community, volunteer involvement and paid work experience. Applicants must complete the FAFSA form (available January, 2008), and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must also select a major that leads to a career in law, dentistry, nursing, or medicine.
Award: $7,500
Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by June 2, 2008

 

AES Engineers Scholarship Offer for 2008

Criteria: Applicants are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible. To apply, students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to one of the two questions that are posted on the AES website.
Award: $500.00
Deadline: September 15, 2008
