Crews are working on M-59 between Byron
Road and Mallard Pond (just east of Fairlawn Drive). Traffic
has been shifted to the north shoulder, with one lane of
traffic maintained in each direction on M-59. The left turn
lane between Byron Road and Mallard Pond has been eliminated.
Left turns are still be permitted and the signal will allow
left hand turns as oncoming traffic is stopped at Michigan
Avenue/Oak Grove Road.
Various intersections along M-59 will also be closed for
a short period as part of the M-59 widening project. All
intersections will be closed for approximately 14 days,
with a detour posted. The following is a tentative schedule
for which intersections will be closed and at what time:
May 5 (this closure has been moved back
7 days )
Close the intersections of M-59/Highlander Way and M-59/Crestwood.
The detour will be M-59/Grand River.
May 14 (anticipated):
Close the intersections of M-59/Byron Road (south leg) and
M-59/Curzon Street. The detour will be Highlander Way.
June 1 (anticipated):
Close the intersections of M-59/Michigan Ave. (south leg)
and M-59/Bower Street. The detour will be Highlander Way.
Date: TBA
Close the intersections of M-59/Crest and M-59/Glen Street.
This closure will be in place until the south side of M-59
is constructed.
Howell High School Drive (date: TBA):
Crews will first build the new relocated drive. Then, once
people are using the new drive, the existing drive will
be closed.
The anticipated closure dates are
tentative, and may change on further notice.
