KLAA VOLLEYBALL BY-LAWS

SCHEDULE:
Pre-season meeting: to be held in conjunction with KLAA Fall Pre-Season Coaches Meeting.
Post-season meeting: to be held the Monday after districts, hosted by the volleyball commissioner.
Double round robin within division, (home and away) matches followed by Conference Championship duals and Association Championship duals for a total of twelve (12) dates.
Games played on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Freshmen / JV games begin @ 5:30 PM.
After conclusion of last sub-varsity game:
__10 minutes to assemble on benches / transition courts
__20 minute MHSAA-style warm-up
____4 minutes shared time
____4 minutes home team
____4 minutes visiting team
____4 minutes home team
____4 minutes visiting team
__Player introductions / National Anthem

CHAMPIONSHIP:
Division: best division record after 10 games. If 2 teams are tied head to head record will determine champion. If three or more teams are tied, records against next highest placing team in division and working downward until an edge on the tied opponent is determined.
Conference: after division champions are determined, each Conference will match 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, etc. to determine 1st through 12th place within the Conference
Association: the results of the Conference Championship dual matches will determine match-ups for the Association Championship.

ALL CONFERENCE SELECTION:

ALL CONFERENCE TEAM = 27 players, (all are 1st team - there is no 2nd team). Each school will be afforded one HM player of their choice.

1st place = 4 players
2nd place = 3 players
3rd place = 3 players
4th place = 3 players
5th place = 3 players
6th place = 2 players
7th place = 2 players
8th place = 2 players
9th place = 2 players
10th place = 1 player
11th place = 1 player
12th place = 1 player

SCORING:
All games at all levels shall utilize "rally scoring".
Sub-varsity, (freshmen and JV) matches shall consist of three (3) complete games to 25, (cap @ 27).
Varsity matches shall consist of best 3 of 5 games to 25, (no cap) with the fifth (5th) game, if necessary going to 15.

NOTES:
Each team is to provide personnel for lines, (2 for sub-varsity) one for varsity. Linesmen can be players.
Home contest management is expected to supervise the crowd. Singling out of players and heckling opponents is unacceptable

Grade Level: 7th and 8th

Season: Fall

Length of Season: August 27 – September 7 (Preparation / Practice) - - September 17 – October 26 (League Competition)

Days of Competition: Monday and Wednesday

Start Times: 4:00PM

Number of Contests: MHSAA Regulated Maximum # of Contests (12)

Rule Book: MHSAA and National Federation Rules for Volleyball (See exceptions below)

Maximum Number of Players Per Team: No school shall cut below 18 players.

Number of Games Per Contest: Matches consist of 4 games to 21(Rally Scoring) Game 4 will be played per NFHS rules which includes the opportunity to use the Liebero

Serving Rules: After (5) consecutive serves the players rotate to a new server, (Both 7th and 8th grade) This rules applies in game 4. (Games may end in a tie)

Player Participation: Every attempt must be made to play each player in uniform during each match.
No player can play in more than 3 games per night.

Line Judges: Each school shall provide at least 1 person to line judge for each match, (can be players from another grade).

Officials: Home school shall provide at least one (1) MHSAA registered official. This official may be paired with an MHSAA registered “Legacy Official” at the discretion of the home school.

MHSAA Recommended Rules (FYI):

1. Maximum days of competition, 12, for team and student.
2. Limitation of three days of competition per week, but only two may be on a day or night before a school day; teams and individuals are limited to five days of competition during any 14-day period, Monday through Sunday, and 15 games per day.
3. Three days of competition may occur one time during one week (Monday through Sunday) of the Junior High/Middle School season.
