CROSS COUNTRY BY-LAWS
1. Schedule:
Single Round Robin within the Division
Divisional Meet
Conference Meet (Top seven runners shall be designated for varsity team scoring prior to meet.)
2. Timeline:
Duals on Tuesday
Divisional Meet on Tuesday before Conference Meet
Conference Meet on Saturday before Regional
First Divisional Dual will be on September 9
Duals will start at 4:30 p.m.
3. Championship:
The Divisional Championship will be determined by the records (win-loss in the Division 50% and Divisional Meet winner 50%).
Championship is
determined by adding the place points awarded in both the
Dual Meet
standings and the Divisional Meet standings. The Conference Champion will be determined by the Tournament Winner.
4. Awards:
Divisional Champion shall receive permanent award.
Conference Meet: 21 medals
Conference Champion shall receive permanent award.
5. Hosting:
Will be on a rotational schedule.
6. Kensington Lakes Activities Association (KLAA) and MHSAA Rules and Regulation will be followed.

Admission fee is determined by individual district. Individual tickets will not exceed $5.00. (No passes accepted for MHSAA tournament events)

Grade Level: 7th and 8th
Season: Fall
Length of Season: August 27 – September 7 (Preparation / Practice) - - September 10 – October 19 (League Competition)
Days of Competition: Dual meets will be scheduled for Wednesday’s unless both schools mutually agree to run on another day.
Starting Time: 4:00PM
Number of Contests: MHSAA Regulated Maximum # of Contests (10)
Rule Book: MHSAA and National Federation Rules for Cross Country.
Warm-Up: 15 minute warm-up. Home team should provide course map and discuss with the visiting coach.
Length of Race: Maximum distance will be 2 miles.
Number of Races: The boys and girls will rune separate races. On even years the boys will run first and on uneven years the girls will run first. If there are enough boys and girls to warrant running separate races in dual meets, the host school may choose to do so.
Number of Competitors: Boys and girls may compete in the same
race in dual meets. If there are enough boys
enough girls to make up separate teams (minimum of five), there will be separate
scores recorded for each team. However, if there are not enough boys or girls
to make up separate teams, there shall be one team score
for the dual meet.
Scoring: NFHS (6th place runner will determine the tie-breaker)
MHSAA Recommended Rules (FYI):
1. Maximum number of meets, 10, for team and student.
2. Maximum of two meets per week, one per day.
3. A contestant is limited to 3,200 meters or two miles.
