KENSINGTON LAKES ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION

BOWLING (Boys & Girls)

I. SCHEDULE
Each team will bowl a double round robin within their division and 6 crossovers. Their will also be an association tournament at the end of the season. Each house will host twice.

North: Lakeland, Walled Lake Central, Walled Lake Northern, Walled Lake Western, Waterford Kettering, Waterford Mott.
West: Brighton, Hartland, Howell, Milford, Pinckey
Central: South Lyon, South Lyon East, John Glenn, Northville, Novi, Wayne Memorial.

With 24 dates available this schedule will designate 16 league dates and allow 8 dates for tournaments in a 6 team division.

II. DAYS TO BE SCHEDULED
Matches will be scheduled for two days per week with days and start times determined by host lanes. Each house will host twice.

III. POINT SYSTEM
Each match consists of 2 Baker games and 2 regular games. The 2 Baker games are bowled prior to the regular games. Team standings will be determined by wins and losses determined by the total points awarded each team.

The winning team receives 4 points for each Baker game won and 2 points for the best 2-game total.

Each player receives 1 point for each individual game won, each team receives 4 points for each game won, and the team with the most points for regular games receives 2 points for series for a total of 20 points.

At the end of competition match points convert to a point for the win column or a point for the loss column. Ties would result in each team receiving 1/2 point for each column.

IV. EQUIPMENT AND UNIFORMS
BOWLING BALL LIMITS – Participants shall be limited to a maximum of two bowling balls in the bowler area. Additional bowling balls should be kept in the paddock or other
assigned area. Equipment changes will be allowed. Equipment regulations will be those of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) as published in the USBC high school
manual, unless otherwise modified by the MHSAA.

UNIFORMS/DRESS CODE
Boys – Slacks are required. Blue jeans, cutoffs, shorts, sweatpants or warm-up pants will not be allowed. A collared shirt will be required. T-shirts will not be allowed.
Girls - Slacks, shorts or skirts will be allowed. Skirts must reach the top of the knee and shorts shall be an appropriate length. Blue jeans, cutoffs, sweatpants or warm-up pants
will not be allowed. A collared shirt will be required. T-shirts will not be allowed.
Bowlers are not required to wear the same style of shirts or slacks, but similar uniforms
are recommended. Jewelry is allowed.

Neither boys nor girls may wear hats, caps or any other type of headgear. Allowances will be made for religious dress.

A single patch or embroidered area not to exceed 2 inches X 3 inches in size will be allowed to identify a sponsor. It may appear once on either sleeve, or the left or right
front breast-pocket area. School name, logo, school nickname or bowler name may also appear on the shirt. No offensive language of any sort is allowed on uniforms. Coaches
must also adhere to the MHSAA uniform/dress code regulations.

V. SUBSTITUTIONS/LINEUPS
A starting lineup must be submitted 5 minutes prior to the start of each game. A standard starting lineup for team competition will consist of 5 bowlers. Lineups may change in subsequent games. Starting bowlers must bowl at least one frame before being substituted for. Once a substitute enters the game, he/she must finish that game. Substitutions in midframe are allowed. The bowler who is substituted for may return as a starter or substitute in subsequent games. The substitute must be on the 10 person roster at the start of
competition. All five starting bowlers may be substituted for in any given game. If a substitute is injured, they may be replaced by an eligible substitute. In Baker and regular games the bowlers will alternate lanes.

VI. SPECTATORS
No spectators are allowed in the bowling area where team members are seated.

VII. SPORTSMANSHIP/CONDUCT
Good sportsmanship for players, coaches and spectators is a must. Taunting, profanity and intimidating conduct are not allowed. Players will not be allowed on the approach to
congratulate or celebrate the accomplishment of a fellow team member during bowling. Bowlers will not be allowed to enter an adjacent lane approach to celebrate or “run-out”
their delivery. Bowlers shall observe traditional bowling courtesy for bowlers on adjacent lanes.

VIII. DELAY, STALLING, PACE OF PLAY
Bowlers should be standing and ready to bowl when the preceding bowler is completing his/her frame. Intentional stalling or undue delay is considered unsportsmanlike. Bowlers
should be warned about such conduct and may be penalized if there are repeated violations.

IX. PRACTICE/WARM-UP POLICY
Teams and individuals shall be allowed a warm-up period not to exceed 10 minutes on each starting lane (20 minutes total).

X. CHAMPIONSHIP
Division championship will be determined by best record vs. division competition.

Association Championship will be determined by qualifying. Top 8 teams will bowl qualifiers to determine championship. Bottom 8 teams will bowl in consolation tournament following same format.

Teams will be seeded based on final standings (1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5) and compete head-to-head following state tournament format. Two Baker games and 2 regular games will be bowled with total pin count determining the winner. Winners will advance to bowl same format until an Association Champion is determined.

XI. AWARDS
All Conference – Top 21 averages with 70% participation in conference matches (include cross-over scores) earn all conference honors.
Division Champions and the Association Champion receive permanent awards.

XII. TIE BREAKERS
First tie breaker is head to head competition.
Second tie breaker is the total match points in head to head competition
Third tie breaker is total pins
Fourth tie breaker will be a best 2 of 3 Baker roll-off between the teams in question.
