KENSINGTON LAKES ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION

BASKETBALL BY-LAWS (Boys/Girls)

I. SCHEDULE
Dual: Double round robin
Cross Overs: Three (3) cross over games that rotate every two (2) years
Conference: Two (2) game playoff
Total of fifteen (15) games.

II. DAYS TO BE SCHEDULED
BOYS: Tuesday and Friday - Junior Varsity (JV) start at 5:30 p.m.
GIRLS: Tuesday and Thursday - Junior Varsity(JV)start at 5:30 p.m.

III. CHAMPIONSHIP
Division: Each Division champion will be determined by the overall Division won-loss record. Ties will be declared co-champions.

Conference: The Conference and Association championship will be determined by a two (2) game playoff system.

Playoff Formula: The Conference championship and other Conference places will be determined by a one (1) game playoff. The Association championship and other Association places will be determined by a one (1) game playoff. Teams in each division will be matched by records with opposite Division teams for the playoffs. NOTE: Junior Varsity (JV)and Freshman (9th grade) teams will travel with varsity team.

On even years the South and North Divisions will host round 1 and the Kensington Conference will host round 2. On odd years the Central, West and Lakes.

Tie Breaker:Tie breakers for determining standings for playoffs:
__A. The best record of the contests between the teams which are involved is the first consideration.
__B. After eliminating the BEST of the teams tied, then the headto- head record of the teams involved is considered.
__C. Comparisons of wins and losses in the Division starting with the top teams and working downward in the standings until an edge on the tied opponent is determined.
__D. Point differential
____1. After the third (3rd) quarter of the teams involved.
____2. After the second (2nd) quarter.
____3. After the first (1st) quarter.
__E. Coin flip if still tied.

IV. ALL CONFERENCE AWARDS
ALL CONFERENCE TEAM = 27 players, (all are 1st team - there is no 2nd team). Each school will be afforded one HM player of their choice.

1st place = 4 players
2nd place = 3 players
3rd place = 3 players
4th place = 3 players
5th place = 3 players
6th place = 2 players
7th place = 2 players
8th place = 2 players
9th place = 2 players
10th place = 1 player
11th place = 1 player
12th place = 1 player

V. TEAM AWARDS
Divisional: Champion shall receive a permanent award.
Conference: Champion shall receive a permanent award.
It is possible to have co or tri champions for Divisional and Conference.

VI. WESTERN LAKES ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (WLAA) / NATIONAL FEDERATION / MHSAA RULES and REGULATIONS.
The M.H.S.A.A. rule for a Point Differential is in effect.
