| School Board Meetings Overview Regular meetings of the school board are held in the boardroom of the administration building located at 411 N. Highlander Way, Howell, at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Agendas are available from the Superintendent's Office, any public school office, and online the Monday afternoon before the meeting. All regular meetings are open to the public. Special meetings are open to the public and may be called by the President or a majority of the board memebers to hold work-study sessions, meet deadlines, or attend to emergency situations. News media are notified 24 hours in advance of special meetings. In the event of an emergency involving fire, flood, earthquake, possible injury, or property damage, the board may meet immediately and take official action without prior notification. Closed executive sessions can be held by law only to discuss matters which require confidentiality. Such issues include personnel action, student discipline, site acquisition, litigation, or employee negotiations. However, all formal actions resulting from these meetings are taken in public sessions. PUBLIC TESTIMONY The purpose of board meetings is for the board to conduct its business in public, not to provide a public forum. The board, however, does provide a period during the meeting when visitors may make formal presentations, seek clarification, discuss nonagenda items, and make presentations on agenda items.
