Howell Public Schools District Updates 6/18/20

Dear Families,

Our summer bond work funded by the 2019 Capital and Safety Bond is in full swing around the district. Many of our schools are currently receiving new flooring and work to create secure vestibules at each school is underway. Roof replacements are underway at Highlander Way Middle School, the Freshman Campus, and Voyager, and paving projects have been completed or are underway at Howell High School, Northwest, and Voyager. Our construction team is providing weekly updates to keep families and our community updated on the progress of this work. You can view this week’s updates at https://bit.ly/2YJUYvW

Return to School Parent Survey

On Monday, we sent out the first of what will likely be multiple Return to School surveys. The goal of this survey is to gather baseline data to inform our planning process. We know that the survey is not all-encompassing of the various scenarios, options, concerns, and thoughts around returning to school. As we continue planning, we will conduct additional surveys that will dive deeper into how our families feel about various plans and recommendations. If you have not already taken the Return to School Parent survey, please do so by Friday, June 26. The survey can be found at https://bit.ly/3cZdci8.

Meal Kit Distribution on Monday, June 22

Our next meal kit distribution will be on Monday, June 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the circle drive on the north side of Howell High School. We will also offer delivery to families who lack transportation to pick up meal kits. To request delivery for Monday, June 22, please visit http://bit.ly/2vZoHa2. All requests for delivery will need to be submitted by 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 21. This will allow our Food Service and Transportation Departments to plan for the deliveries.

Salvation Army Summer Lunch Bunch

The Salvation Army launched its Summer Lunch Bunch this week. The Salvation Army Summer Lunch Bunch program is a collaborative community meals program that meets all over Livingston County during the summer recess. Through a diverse offering of one-time, daily, and weekly meetings at host’s sites around the county, families are ensured access to plentiful food all summer long. To learn more about the Summer Lunch Bunch, please visit https://bit.ly/3dTCgbB

Summer Learning Opportunities and Supports

We have started posting free summer learning opportunities on the district’s website. You can find these at https://bit.ly/2NiVBYh. This page will be updated as we learn of more opportunities. Additionally, our school counselors will continue to maintain and update their Summer Resource and Opportunities document, which can be viewed at https://bit.ly/2vMY9sr.

Sincerely,
